THE CALHOUN SCHOOL MASTER PLAN

Verona Carpenter Architects created a master plan for the phased renovation of this progressive Pre K-12 school.

The study focused on the reprogramming of the school's iconic open-plan upper west side building and made recommendations for communicating the school's key values, improving teaching and learning spaces with a sensory-design approach for greater inclusion, enhancing building infrastructure, and creating an environment for wellness.  We set out specific strategies for strengthening the science program, creating better faculty support spaces, and allowing for future growth. The process included in depth engagement with students, teachers, and administration as well as our expert subconsultant team. VCA designed and executed the first phase of the project, the renovation of two upper school floors, on-time and on-budget in  2021-2022.
