Art Foundation Masterplan

LOCATION: CONNECTICUT

AREA: SIX ACRES

STATUS: DESIGN

VCA was one of three firms selected for this paid competition to plan the long-term site strategy for a significant arts foundation. The proposal seeks to build an inclusive environment where visitors, staff, and artists-in-residence can be immersed in art and nature. Existing structures are preserved and expanded, respecting the history of the site and at the same time moving the foundation into the future. The landscape creates a series of outdoor rooms that bring programming deep into the site. The project, which maps out an inclusive design process with disabled self-advocates, includes diagrams for the site's phased development over time and highlights short-term activations that can be achieved quickly for immediate impact.
